Going to school has jump-started some old feelings that have been long
hidden inside of me. For one, I've been walking a lot at night. It seems
that in the last few years, walking at night only ever happened out of
coincidence (i.e. no ride home from the bar, not enough money for a bus

I feel a bit awash in the sea of this blog because I can't be bothered to keep it up.

Life has begun to affix itself to a crazy surface - and crazy is all I know.

I am a full time student, now - at Algonquin College. I am doing something that

I'm sitting at the Cobourg beach alone with my thoughts. The waves are rustling lightly against a dirty shore. The beach sand is littered with cigarette butts as smells of fish detritus linger in the lake Ontario breeze. People are playing volleyball. Cheers, laughs and hollow ball smack sounds are alight.

This summer is a minefield of activity, and in the same breath, it
is a slow ghost. The weeks have been passing by and I've been too

Sometimes, we need to get sick. We need to lay low and take stock
of everything around us and survey our fears. I have a huge need to
be liked by other people and a lot of the time, it drives what I do. I
weigh a lot of decisions through the filter of what I think someone else's
thoughts might be.

Through some emails between my brother and my cousins, I have
been dubbed as 'sports guy' due to the number of weekly activities
that I have going on that revolve around the playing of sport. On
Sundays, I play a grueling session of Ultimate Frisbee that requires
you to run for almost an hour and a half straight (2 40 minute halves).
On Mondays, I play on a lob ball softball team. As you can see from my sullen surroundings, all is calm here at
TCS for the moment. It's strange living on the campus of a private
school in the summertime - when there is no school or students to
be found. It becomes a bit of a pastoral landscape. I need to get

Today was a day of reckoning - a day of taking stock. Lately, I've
been living a theme of appreciation and I got the chance today to
appreciate a city that I've spent many hours of my life within -

Today is the day. For a few weeks now, I've been rehearsing a set of
23 cover songs with 3 other guys here in Port Hope. We are playing
at a charity event tonight and actually getting paid for it. The songs

Tonight, we played our 2nd ultimate friz game of the season. Compared to
last week, it was a light workout as we had 15 people (and the rules only
allow for 7 to be on the field at one time). So the girls rotated in 2 shifts
and the guys rotated in 3. It was a little too packed for my liking, making
any sort of rhythm with your line-mates rather unattainable.

I know - I'm a big yuppie for playing tennis.

Say what you will but this sport actually gets you moving in pretty
fast intervals and using muscles that you wouldn't ordinarily use.
It's good for the body, mind and soul and last year, I started getting
seriously addicted to playing tennis.

When a lot of your favourite bands start releasing albums again, something
happens to you. Your cynicism resides. Your inner child wants to run through

I've been revisiting a lot of semi-vintage material in my catalogue, lately.
I'm finding that 'newer' music is lacking a lot of existential umph - and

I'm feeling like my reserves are depleting these days. Each night, I

spring season of travel, 13/14 hour days of personal accounting,

I had a conversation with my brother, after a massive bowl of spicy chili,
about the current moment, Paul Tillich, a prof of his who didn't wear a
watch because he claimed 'time is now' and other things of that nature.

There really is no past or future. You can only be exactly where you

It was a real treat to see the fam this weekend. Wife. Brother. Parents.
Cousins. Lamb. Salad. Roast root veg. Choco cake. Nummers.

Over the years, I've spent a great deal of time in Kanata at 10 Nanook.
Whether it has been breakout 3 on 3 games in the driveway (which
also meant basketballs on the roof of the garage) or backyard cookouts

One of the oddest things happened to me on thursday night.

I was driving to Kingston with my friend Taylor (on the toes of an
upcoming Graven show) and the sun was setting on the 401. About an
hour into the car ride, I felt like I was on a massive high. My brain and
body actually felt disconnected and for most of the evening, I had this
